Climate change represents an environmental challenge with widespread social and economic repercussions, affecting the well-being and livelihoods of people worldwide. AI and digital technologies offer a promising approach to address climate challenges by optimizing energy use in industries and smart cities for emission reduction; enhancing renewable energy production, distribution, and consumption; providing insights and tools for climate change adaptation and monitoring through nuclear science; and promoting sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to climate action.
At the AI for Good Global Summit 2024, a series of competitions focused on AI solutions for climate change were launched.
The awards ceremony to announce the winners will be held at COP29, showcasing AI solutions on the following themes:
Emission Reduction: Developing AI models to optimize energy use in industries, smart cities, and transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Renewable Energy Integration and Efficiency: Harnessing AI to optimize renewable energy production, distribution, and consumption.
Adaptation and Monitoring of the Impacts of Climate Change Through Nuclear Science: Utilizing AI to analyze large datasets and create user-friendly tools to enhance resilience and efficiently manage natural resources.
Climate Action Agricultural Practices: Promoting AI-driven agricultural practices that contribute to climate action, such as zero-emission and low-emission farming.
